Employment

Frog Hollow is currently hiring part time staff for the 2008 season.  We are accepting resumes and holding interviews from now until Aug 1 or until job positions are filled. 

We are looking for dynamic people who are passionate about the outdoors, highly motivated, energetic, and yet easy going and able to go with the flow.  Below are the basic job descriptions and necessary qualifications.  New employees are required to go through extensive job training.


Operations Support
10-30 hours per week - Mostly weekday work

Job Description - Trip prep and breakdown, answering phone and email, follow up on customer inquires, trip registration, trip & shuttle support, office management

Qualifications - Applicants must have good organizational skills, a kind and able phone & email presence, be first aid and CPR certified, knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) the extensive number of paddling opportunities in the Triangle area, and a love of nature


Kayak Instructors
Minimum of 15 hours per month - Mostly weekend days

Job Description - Lead or support kayak and/or canoe instructionals, handle all prep and breakdown of instructional, answer phone, customer registration, occasional office days

Lead Instructor Qualifications - Applicants must be first aid & CPR certified, formally trained in kayaking or canoeing, able to act quickly and with good judgment in various on-water situations, able to lift relatively heavy loads, have a valid drivers license and good driving record.  Applicants with canoe/kayak certification/training through (or in the process of) one or more of the following (or similar) will be more seriously considered for the position: ACA, BCU, NOLS, Outward Bound, BSA, GSA, American Red Cross.     
     

Summer Internships

Internships include training, field experience, and a stipend.  Start dates and sessions are flexible.  A minimum of 10 hours per week, for 3 months required.  Primitive housing options are available as well. 

Applicants must be highly motivated, working towards an "outdoor" or related degree, First Aid and CPR certified, and have some previous canoeing and kayaking experience.

Barter 

Frog Hollow will Barter for professional services, we have also devised a couple of new Barter Programs for those interested in some form of trade.

Individual Barter
Individuals who commit to work 8 hours per week for 3 months are entitled to any Frog Hollow guided day trip or instructional through 2008, your choice of any single overnight night trip in the Fall of 2008 or Spring of 2009, plus 4 gift certificates for an extra person to join any of the day trips.

Group Barter Program
Set for specific services - Organizations can receive a group trip of any kind in exchange for some of their time working on a project at Frog Hollow.  The groups paddling trip date must be scheduled to take place after their Frog Hollow project date.

River Cleanup Barter
Get 2 paddling trips for the price of one!  If you have a group of 12 or more and would like to do some good for a local body of water, check out this barter option.  Paddling Trip #1 would be the on-water cleanup from canoes and kayaks.  Trip #2 would be a paddling trip on another body of water just for fun!
