The lower Roanoke River Basin is a backcountry paddlers dream. It is one of the largest contiguous undeveloped cypress/tupelo bottomland hardwood forests in the country. Many side creeks, sloughs, and channels feed their way into and out of the main branch of the Roanoke. This swampy paradise has dozens of camping platforms and a handful of land based camping options built and managed by our amazing friends at the Roanoke River Partners. Let us help you create the Expedition of a lifetime in eastern NC.

Difficulty: Intermediate to advanced skills required. Paddling distances, camping in the swamps, backcountry skills management - this trip is not appropriate for inexperienced paddlers or campers.

Please be aware that overnights and expeditions have limited availability and it is not unusual that they need to be scheduled at least 6 months in advance.
